St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School has been rewarded its outstanding provision in PE and Sport for young people by achieving the school Games Platinum Mark 3 years in a row. We are very proud of the contribution our children have made in supporting the school to achieve these outstanding standards

From September 2013 the government allocated funding directly to primary schools to support the provision of quality P.E./sport. Each school will receive £8,0000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the next two years This will mean around £9,500.

We are extremely fortunate to be working with Willow Tree Schools Sports partnership who provided a fantastic range of expertise in the field of PE/ Sport.

At St Vincent’s we aim to give every opportunity to enjoy and develop their physical and sporting ability. So, in order to get the best value and maximum impact for our children, we plan to use the money to:

  • Improve confidence amongst teachers in the delivery of high quality P.E. lessons across the school.
  • Buy into existing local sports networks including the Willow Tree School Sports Partnership.
  • Develop the children’s leadership skills through the introduction of the St Vincent’s school sports council.
  • Purchase specialist equipment and teaching resources to develop a traditional and non- traditional activities for both PE lessons and games clubs.
  • Use the fund to provide more PE/games spaces for example hiring of the Wasps’ field for PE/ games lessons

We will measure the impact of the sports funding through these methods:

  • Observations of children and staff during PE/ Games lessons.
  • Assessments of pupils’ skills and abilities through regular assessments
  • Increased participation through competitive sports
  • Increased range of after school sports clubs that we shall provide through specialist coaches.
  • The achievement of recognised national quality marks.
