Welcome to Year 2!
Our topic this term is Sacramental people. We have been looking at where we see God in our actions and in everything we do. A long time ago, God was present physically with us through Jesus. Today, we have to look deeper into our own world and think about how he is still present even though we can't see him.
This week in chapel we discussed 'reflection' and the reading from the Gospel of Luke chapter 4.
We discussed that today, through the power of Holy Spirit, Jesus is still with us! He is with us and he wants us to share this Good News with others through our everyday words and actions. Jesus wants us to show our faith in God through sharing love, kindness and forgiveness in our everyday words and actions. We discussed that we should regularly share Good News with others. We all took turns to discuss our Good News for this week.
Our first collective worship groups started presenting this week. They had the theme of 'love'. They really enjoyed being able to step into the role of 'teacher' and be able to direct the learning and experience for the class. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of the collective worship groups each Monday.
Our topic this term has been materials. We have been looking at what materials would be suitable to make boats, based on their properties. Before making our boats we had to test our materials to see which ones were able to sink or float. The children then had to discuss and design what they needed to create their boats.
Testing if our boats float or sink!
Testing speeds and making helicopters!
This term we are exploring scientific inquiry. We have been investigating how changing variables effect the speed of paper. We discuss our aims of the experiment, the method and make individual and class predictions. We then complete the experiment and record the results. In this lesson we are testing the speed of scrunched up paper and flat paper. Whose paper achieved the best speed and why?
Flying our first helicopters!

This week we have been learning about multiplication arrays. We have had a practical lesson where we were able to explore how multiplication arrays represent our timetables.
In our year 2 games lessons we have been practising our flexibility and core strength though 'Cosmic Yoga'. Check out our Cosmic photos!
