Netball - London Youth Games - March 2015

On  26th March 2015, the netball A team went to the London Youth Games. It was a long coach ride but when we arrived, it was worth the long journey. The netball team consisted of Kees, Fenn, Nellie, Ruben, Emily, Liv, Paulina and as a sub we had Kyla. We watched the opening ceremony then afterwards we began to play our matches. All matches were six minutes long which is not very long to score.

Our first match was against Millbank Academy. After the six minutes, Millbank Academy had scored once and we had not scored at all. Luckily it was not a huge defeat. The final result was 1-0. Our second match was against the school from Hillingdon. Unfortunately, we lost again , this time 2-0. We had one more match to play and make sure we did not go home losing every match.

In our third and final match, which was against Brettemham school, we very happily took the victory of 3-1.

Even though we won our final match, it wasn't enough to go through to the next round. What we did whilst waiting for the coach was play four friendly matches against other schools

who were not going through to the next round as well.

In our first friendly match we won 4-0 which was a big improvement from our previous three matches. In our second friendly we unfortunately lost 3-1. But that did not change our attitude towards the next match. In the third match we won 7-0 with Liv scoring and Ruben scoring 1 goal. In our final friendly match, before we went home, we won 6-1 with Kees scoring four goals and Nellie scoring two whilst having a very difficult defender marking her.

We would like to thank Coach Brown, Ms. Hoogwerf and Sr. Pat for coaching us every Wednesday ( the A team and the B team ) after school, leading both teams to come 1st and 2nd in the borough tournament and the A team competing in the London Youth Games.
